Chrysanthemum, Coleus and Rose Show concludes with prize distribution
Aligarh : The Gulistan-e-Syed team bagged three trophies and the Vice Chancellor (VC) Lodge team two in the Annual Chrysanthemum, Coleus and Rose Show-2023, organized by the Department of Land and Gardens, Aligarh Muslim University, with their enthralling display of blooms, cut flowers and roses.
The Gulistan-e-Syed claimed ‘Mrs Saleha Farooqui Running Cup for the Queen of the Show’, ‘Prof B A Khan Running Cup for the Best Rose’ and ‘Prof Suhail Ahmad Running Cup for the Highest Points in the Chrysanthemum and Rose Show’, while the VC Lodge team won the ‘Vice Chancellor Running Cup for the King of the Show’ and the ‘Ansuman Bansal Running Cup for the Best Single Variety of Chrysanthemum’.
The Pro Vice Chancellor (PVC) Lodge team lifted ‘Mr B H Hashmi Running Cup for the Best Double Chrysanthemum’ and the Engineering College team received ‘Mr Tahir Hussain (Mamma) Running Cup for the Best Coleus’.
The ‘Safdar Abbas (ASIM) Memorial Running Cup for the Best Exhibit in Class-G’ went to the Victoria Gate Nursery.
The chief guest, Prof Wazahat Husain (Former Chairman, Department of Botany, AMU) said that the incredible display of so many beautiful flowers of different description speaks of the precious gift of the mother nature that has been grown to perfection in the Annual Chrysanthemum, Coleus and Rose Show mesmerizing the visitors.
The guests of honour, the Proctor, Prof Mohd Wasim Ali said that the show has left us with great memories of beautiful flowers that added to the grandeur of the sprawling Gulistan-e-Syed.
“A Total of 135 prizes including 46 first, 48 second and 41 consolation prizes were given in the concluding ceremony of the two-day flower show”, said Prof Zaki Anwar Siddiqui (Member-in-Charge, Department of Land and Gardens).
The chief guest and the guest-of-honour, along with Prof Anwar Shahzad, Mr Javed Saeed, Dr Salman Khaleel, Mr Rajveer Singh, Deputy Commandant, RAF, Prof S.M. Javed, and others distributed prizes to the winners.
Dr Tariq Aftab (Associate Member-in-Charge, Department of Land and Gardens) extended the vote of thanks.
