CII Excon 2017 to position India as a global hub for Construction Equipment Manufacturing
New Delhi: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising Excon 2017 – South Asia’s largest construction equipment exhibition from 12th to 16th December, 2017 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru.
With a gross display area of 2,50,000 sq.m., the 5-day international exhibition would have 925 exhibitors including 275 companies from abroad. The event is expected to attract over 40,000 business visitors from across the globe.
Mr. Anant G Geete, Hon’ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises, Government of India would be the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Session of EXCON 2017 scheduled on 12th December 2017 at BIEC, Bengaluru.
Mr. R V Deshpande, Hon’ble Minister for Large & Medium Industries & Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka and Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO, Niti Aayog, Government of India will address at the inaugural session amongst other dignitaries.
In his address at the press conference, Mr. Vipin Sondhi, Chairman, CII EXCON 2017 said, “The Indian Construction Equipment Industry which peaked in 2011 went through a downcycle for four straight years from 2012 until 2015. This year as an industry, we will surpass our previous best year of 2011 with a growth of 14%. The industry is headed for better days of a projected stable growth of 10% CAGR over the next 5 years compared to 7% in the previous decade. The government of India has made infrastructure creation a major pillar for sustained growth and announced a number of projects in roads, railways, metro rail, mining, irrigation, power and urban development which are growth drivers for our industry.”
“We are entering into the 9th edition of the EXCON, which has a 17 year strong legacy being organized since 2000. With each passing edition, the EXCON has witnessed immense growth both in quality and participation. EXCON 2017 has witnessed a 16 per cent growth in terms of number of exhibitors compared with the 2015 edition. The highlight of this edition is the enhanced participation of overseas companies from over 20 countries. There will also be country pavilions including leading economies like Germany, Italy, China, South Korea & United Kingdom.”
As part of EXCON, CII is organizing an Infrastructure Summit on 12th December which will deliberate on the opportunities in infrastructure development through Public Private Partnership. A CEOs Round Table Session is also organised which would have the participation of leading global and Indian CEOs in the infrastructure and construction sectors. A CII-ICEMA Report on Indian Construction Equipment Industry will also release during the Inaugural Session.
CII & ICEMA is organising a Conference on ‘Nextgen Infrastructure’ on 13th December 2017 which would present the advancement of technology and integration of IT in building world class infrastructure.
Excon 2017 is aligned with the Indian Government’s ‘Make in India’ vision and has emerged as an imperative platform to bring together leading global and domestic construction equipment players to demonstrate their world-class technological prowess and capabilities. The event will also provide an opportunity for participants to network; discuss and debate on the opportunities and challenges in creating world class infrastructure
With the participation of almost all leading players in the construction equipment industry, the exhibition would aim at facilitating faster and sustainable development of infrastructure and related sectors in India.
