Class 12 student of DPS RK Puram winner of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Ideathon organized by the HRD Ministry
Covid-19 has become a global pandemic and it doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of stopping.
Aryan Gulati, a student of class 12 in Delhi Public School R.K. Puram has developed a Machine Learning based web application called LungAI to detect and predict Covid-19 among other lung issues such as lung cancer and 16 of the most common and dangerous lung abnormalities like Pneumonia, Tuberculosis etc. The website can have an accuracy of over 90% and gives detections within 3-5 seconds of uploading a chest X-Ray or CT Scan. Further the website also has the option of sending the detection along with the image to various doctors and hospitals online by using an automatic messaging system developed for the website in case the user wishes to get a second opinion as well as the option of contacting hospitals in the users vicinity in case they are looking for Covid-19 test sites.
I had also entered this software in the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Ideathon organized by the HRD Ministry and have been selected as the Winner in the Sustainable Environment category for my project LungAI: A Deep Learning based Digital Platform to Detect and Predict Covid-19, Lung Cancer and Other Lung Abnormalities in the Medical & Pharmacy Sector. I am also the only student at 17 who has been selected as one of the 5 national winners among 5 categories of the Ideathon and will be awarded with a prize of 2 lakhs to further implement my idea at the national level with the Government of India.
“Currently I am also in dialogue with representatives of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to analyze my project and provide me assistance to validate the same through further testing depending on which it may be used as one of the first Artificial Intelligence based COVID-19 Detectors to further coronavirus testing in India”, says Aryan
“Of course none of this would have been possible without certain pillars of support who have been a constant help during this rather interesting and fun journey. In my case these pillars came in the form of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram’s Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan who played a major role in terms of guiding me along this journey. Apart from this I must also thank the computer science department of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram for their constant support and readiness to lend a helping hand. Lastly I would also like to thank my parents for supportimg me through this journey”, adds Aryan.
