Clinician-Scientist from LVPEI bags J C Bose Fellowship

Hyderabad : L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) proudly announces that Clinician-Scientist Prof Dr Javed Ali has been honoured with the prestigious ‘JC Bose Fellowship’ for Medicine, recognizing his exceptional contributions in Dacryology within Ophthalmology. This esteemed fellowship, named after the eminent scientist Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, is awarded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, emphasizing excellence in science and technology.

 

Dr Javed Ali, a global leader in oculoplastic surgery and lacrimal drainage sciences, heads the Govindram Seksaria Institute of Dacryology at LVPEI. His illustrious career includes serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the esteemed journal Seminars in Ophthalmology, holding distinguished academic positions worldwide, and receiving accolades such as the Alexander Von Humboldt Fellowship Award and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize. With 605 publications, including a comprehensive textbook on lacrimal surgery, Dr Javed Ali’s impact on ophthalmology is profound.

 

Upon receiving the JC Bose Fellowship, Dr Javed Ali expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am deeply honoured to receive the JC Bose Fellowship, an acknowledgement that underscores the significance of advancing Dacryology in Ophthalmology. Dr Javed Ali’s unparalleled dedication to the field of Dacryology and his global impact as a clinician-scientist have earned him this prestigious recognition. As a JC Bose Fellow, he will receive a fellowship of Rs 25,000 per month and a research grant of Rs 15 Lakh annually for 5 years, supporting his research work. Additionally, the institute would also receive overhead funding every year.
