Closing ceremony of ‘Clean India’ held at SS Anantnag

 

ANANTNAG : The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYS&S) in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Anantnag today held the closing ceremony of ‘Clean India’ programme with slogan ‘let’s come together to be part of history in making, let’s join hands together for clean india’.

Under the aegis of ‘Clean India’, the DYS&S Anantnag organised a month long cleanliness drive. The program also involved holding of campaigns, awareness rallies, moral lectures, motivational speeches etc.

Addressing the gathering, the District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Anantnag said that more than 45 quintal waste material was collected during the month-long drive from sixteen blocks. The department also disseminated information among the public on keeping their surroundings clean.

The Deputy Director NYK while speaking on the occasion said that their volunteers along with the social activists collected 9350 kgs of waste plastics. He threw light on the environmental degradation being caused by plastic wastes. He further added that the aim of the drive was to create a sense of cleanliness among the people in general.

The closing ceremony was attended by DYSSO Anantnag, Deputy Director NYK, officials of NYK, DYSSO, volunteers of NYK and some social activists.

Meanwhile, Quami Ekta Diwas was also celebrated on the occasion.
