CM approves Rs 73.27 cr lift irrigation-cum-pipeline project for 12 villages in tribal areas in Mahisagar district

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has in-principle approved a Rs.73.27-crore lift irrigation-cum-pipeline project to fill up 26 ponds and to irrigate 1,600 hectare land in 12 predominantly tribal villages in northern Kadana taluka in Mahisagar district.

The project entails the government’s determination and engineering skill to carry water from upstream of Kadana dam with the help of three pumping station to these hilly villages 38.62-km away through ravines where it is difficult to build check dams while rainwater flows down the hilly slopes.

The project with the tribal people’s long standing demand will help them grow rabi crop and recharge groundwater level.
