Bengaluru : In the wake of promoting the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign and building a Digital India, HKBK College of Engineering in association with ‘Round Table India’ have taken an initiative to empower girl children studying at various government schools in the city of Bangalore. The initiative aims to distribute 500 laptops, wherein they distributed 10 laptops recently as a pilot project.
The event held at the HKBK College of Engineering in the presence of Chief Guest, Sruthi Hariharan, and the Guest of Honours, Shashi K Garh (NHT) & Angadd KM (AC).
In India, several students still get limited or no access to education let alone learning how to use a computer and other technical gadgets. With this initiative, HKBK College of Engineering and Round Table India will try to fill the digital gap to an extent. They’ll educate the students and will give them access to professional training over the time as part of the programme to empower them to go beyond their limits and find their path in life by educating themselves in every way possible. Digital India is stepping towards building a self-sufficient country, and this laptop distribution and professional training initiative will help make the difference.
Commenting on the same, CM Faiz, Director, HKBK College of Engineering, said, “The major concern behind working on this initiative was to have the chance to reach out to as many students as possible and to encourage them to study hard. And, what better timing than this – with the beginning of a new year, the students will have something empowering and new to look forward to in their lives. We should not underestimate the power of educated girl children as we have seen the likes of Kalpana Chawla, Indra Nooyi or Mary Kom, changing the face of India with their achievements in different fields.”
Kinjal Sekar, an 8th-grade student who participated in the drive, said, “I have always wanted to learn how to use a computer because I see everyone use it. I think this is what makes them more smart and rich, and I want to do something really big in my life. I am grateful for this, and I hope several girls get such an opportunity in their life.”
HKBK College of Engineering understands the value of education. The college believes in ‘Education for All’, and so, time and again takes similar initiatives to encourage students of all ages to study well and become better versions of themselves, to achieve something great in their lives.
