CM Kamal Nath inaugurates 5th Khajuraho International Film Festival

Bhopal : The Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath said that in order to give boost to the economic activities in the state, Madhya Pradesh will be made film-friendly. Film policy will be formulated soon in this regard. Shri Kamal Nath was inaugurating the 5th International Film Festival in Khajuraho today.

Shri Kamal Nath said that films are not only the medium for entertainment but films also become tool for the economic prosperity. He further mentioned that we are working in the direction to formulate a new film policy and to establish film city in the state, this will encourage film producers and provide opportunities for the local artists. Shri Nath stated that in comparison to past, a big change has come in technique of film production. Training in new film technology will be given to youth of our state through skill development center,s so that they could get employment. He said that the government is also considering exhibiting films through small screens in kasba, block and at tehsil level. On one hand, it will help in providing means of entertainment to the people and on the other because of increase in the economic activities will also generate new employments.

The Chief Minister further mentioned that special efforts will be made to remove backwardness of Bundelkhand. Every possible step will be taken to ensure that Bundelkhand takes the place in the map of leading areas.

On this occasion, Shri Kamal Nath inaugurated Tapra Talkies and honoured Industrialist Dr. Lalit Khetan with Bharat Gaurav Samman. The programme was also addressed by MLA Shri Nati Raja and Chairman of the Festival Shri Raja Bundela.

The 5th Khajuraho International Festival organized in joint aegis of Culture and Tourism Departments in collaboration with Prayas Production, Mumbai was inaugurated with the screening of Gandhi Film on the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This year the theme of the Film Festival is ‘Comedy’. In this 7-Day festival, films will be screened and the comedians will also give their performances.

The Minister for Commercial Taxes Shri Brijendra Singh Rathore, Minister for Public Works Shri Sajjan Singh Verma, film personalities, public representatives and citizens in large number were present on the occasion.
