CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the Covid-19 Testing Kits manufactured in the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: Government of Andhra Pradesh under dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Sri Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy garu has taken many proactive measures to arrest the spread of the Carona virus in the State. As a part of these initiatives, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has launched the Covid-19 Testing Kits manufactured in the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone in Visakhapatnam on 08.04.2020 at CM’s Camp Office. Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone(AMTZ) is a prestigious Medical Equipment Manufacturing Zone in the entire India and in a position to serve the country in difficult times. The Indian Council of Medical Research has approved the kits to be manufactured at AMTZ while the Drug Controller General of India granted exemption from all manufacturing approvals for ventilators in view of the current crisis.

The State is proud to announce that the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has started to manufacturing 2000 testing kits for COVID-19 per day, making the State not only self-sufficient but also would be supplying testing kits to the entire country. The capacity will be increased to 25,000 per day.

Further, AMTZ will start producing 3,000 ventilators from 15th April, 2020 and gradually scale it up to 6,000 per month from May, 2020. Hindustan Lifecare (HLL) will assist in the assembly of the ventilators.

The Centre has already placed an order for 3,500 ventilators and assembling of the units will start from April 156, 2020. For this, six companies have been selected in Phase – 1.

As a token of support, the Industries and Commerce Department is donating 1000 Covid-19 Kits to Government. Further, the Industries Department is also donating 10,000 liters of Hand Sanitizers, worth of Rs.10.00 Lakhs to Government. In addition to the above, APIIC Employees have contributed one-day salary to a tune of Rs.5,04,570 /- to the CM Relief Fund as a token of Honour.
