Bengaluru: The Rotaract Club at CMR Institute of Technology, in association with Bangalore Medical Services Trust, organized a “Blood Donation Camp” to raise awareness about the impact of blood donation and to cultivate this culture among the students, faculty and staff members of the Institute. 177 students, staff and faculty members came together for this noble cause.

India’s annual blood requirement is close to 1.5 crore units. That translates to one out of every three people requiring blood in their lifetime. The “Blood Donation Camp” by CMRIT collected 175 units in a single day.

Dr. Sanjay Jain, Principal of CMRIT, praised the efforts and commented “A life is saved every time someone donates blood and empathy is the reason for such an impressive turnout for the cause.” Every 2 seconds, a patient in India requires blood and such initiatives by compassionate individuals are necessary to raise awareness and to drive the cause nationwide.

“Being an alumnus of CMRIT, I take immense pride and pleasure to participate in this Blood Donation Drive. I am thankful to CMRIT for such activities which will indeed help others and bring satisfaction for us and help us to be good citizens of India” added Mr. Pavan MP – Alumnus, CMRIT.
