Intense cold wave and fog continue to disrupt normal life in northern parts of the country. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast severe cold wave conditions in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during next 24 hours. However, there will be gradual reduction in intensity and spread in the region during subsequent two days.

IMD has also predicted dense to very dense fog over Punjab, Haryana, and north Rajasthan during next 24 hours. However, Dense Fog in isolated pockets likely over the region during subsequent 3 to 4 days.

Cold wave condition has intensified in the National Capital Region with further drop in the maximum and minimum temperatures. The residents of the national capital are experiencing biting cold conditions.

In Rajasthan, many districts are in the grip of fog and cold waves. Jobner in Jaipur district was the coldest place yesterday, where mercury was recorded at minus 1 degree. The temperature in hill station Mount Abu was minus 0.5 degrees. The mercury settled near the freezing point in Karauli, Sikar and Nagaur and remained below five degrees Celsius at other nine places.

In Bihar, schools will remain closed for students up to class 8 till 31st of this month in Patna due to cold wave conditions.
