Competitive Examination’s Cash Award to Combat COVID-19

Kolkata: Archisman Nandy, 13 years old boy recently promoted to Class-VIII with 97.71 percentage marks in an Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) curriculum based St.Agnes School situated in Kharagpur City in the West Midnapore district of West Bengal State. He has already qualified more than 5 dozens (70 nos.) Olympiad and Competitive Examinations with exemplary and extraordinary performance in the areas of Mathematics, Science, Reasoning, General Knowledge, English, Cyber & Informatics which have been conducted by different reputed and well-regarded National and International academic assessment institutions including Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) and South East Asian Mathematics Competition (SEAMO). He has received “Most Academic Tests Qualified” title from the prestigious India Book of Records (IBR) under his 13 years age. Along with the significant ranks Archisman has also received cash award in some of the competitive examinations. Instead of using and utilizing his earned cash award in purchasing books or other academic materials he has come forward for donation to combat COVID-19. At his age, humble but significant amount he has contributed to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations” (PM CARES) Fund and West Bengal State Emergency Relief Fund (WBSERF). According to Archisman, student fraternities should strongly believe in the principles of ‘Learn, Earn and Return’ (LER) and contribute to the best of their capability when the nation is at stake. He has also stated that there is no value of education if it does not impact others. To become scientist and take forward the great nation India in its scientific development is the dream of Archisman. During quarantine time he has appeared in social media and made an attempt for spreading necessary awareness and precautions to combat COVID-19. In his deliberations he has quoted Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore “When the mind is without fear” and requested entire student community to fight with corona virus fearlessly and without panic by adopting all means of necessary precautions as prescribed by Government of India (GoI). He is extremely confident that India will surely overcome this locked down phase and crisis period within a very short span of time and will over come all hurdles with the hard work, dedication and extra ordinary support rendered by the health care fraternities and all administrative authorities to save the citizens of India. Archisman has received an email of appreciation from Shri. Khalid A. Anwar, IAS, Joint Secretary, Finance Department, Government of West Bengal for his generous contribution to combat COVID-19.
