Complex arthroscopic knee surgery done at JNMC

ALIGARH  : Orthopedic surgeons at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University performed a complex procedure on a BE student of AMU, Jamil Ahmad, and repaired a tear in the meniscus of his knee and reconstructed the ACL ligament using Arthroscopy at an affordable cost.

Dr M. J. Khan, who performed the surgery, along with his team of doctors, including Dr Chandan Singh (SR) and Dr Ahsan and Dr Pranjal (JRs), under the guidance of Prof. Naiyer Asif, said that Jamil Ahmad sustained an injury in his knee four months ago that created anomalies and severe pain. An MRI screening at a private medical centre established a rare Bucket handle tear in the meniscus of his knee that needed the immediate attention of a Arthroscopic knee surgeon.

Later, Jamil consulted the Sports and Arthroscopic Clinic at JNMC where doctors decided to repair the affected area which proved to be a successful event.

Dr Khan said that the team of anaesthetists, headed by Dr Obaid, provided invaluable help in the surgery.
