Condolence meeting to mourn demise of former Pro Vice Chancellor
Aligarh: A condolence meeting to mourn the sad demise of former Pro Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University Professor Abul Hasan Siddiqi was held on Tuesday.
Professor Siddiqui passed away after illness. He is survived by wife, son and a daughter.
Chairpersons of all the departments of studies in the Faculty of Science attended the condolence meeting held at Interdisciplinary Department of Remote Sensing in Aligarh Muslim University.
Reading the condolence resolution in the meeting at the, Dean, Faculty of Science Prof Qazi Mazhar Ali, extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Prof Siddiqi.
He further said that Prof Siddiqi will always be remembered for his contributions to AMU and the academia.
“Prof Siddiqi served as the Pro Vice Chancellor from June 1, 1992 to October 28, 1994. As a professor of applied mathematics, Prof Siddiqi has also been the Chairman, Department of Mathematics. His service in AMU included the posts of Dean, Faculty of Science; Chief Election Officer of AMU Students’ Union; Member in Charge, AMU Press and Provost of M. Habib Hall. He also served as the Keeper of the Duty Society, AMU.” said Prof Qazi.
Prof Siddiqui was laid to rest in the University graveyard.
Meanwhile in another condolence meeting, the Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, AMU mourned the sad and untimely demise of MSc student, Sumayya Khan.
Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit Prof Asad U Khan said, “This Meeting places on record its deep sorrow and profound grief at the demise of Sumayya Khan and conveys heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family of the deceased.”
Prof Qayyum Husain, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences along with senior teachers and students attended the meeting.
