Cooperation of the Institute of Economics and Law and the Branch-National Bank for the Republic of Karelia of the North-West State Administration of the Bank of Russia

Vadim Chekan, Head of the Branch – National Bank for the Republic of Karelia of the North-West Main Branch of the Bank of Russia, and Alexander Bulatov, Director of the Institute of Economics and Law of Petrozavodsk State University, outlined a plan of joint work for the coming years in the field of improving financial literacy.
The parties agreed to develop a new historical and educational project of the Institute to preserve the memory of famous figures of the republic who have shown themselves in the financial and economic spheres. Branch Manager Vadim Chekan proposed to add to the honorary list the name of Yevgeny Mikhailovich Kuznetsov – the manager of the Karelian-Finnish office of the State Bank of the USSR in 1937-1950, who in wartime managed to organize the work of the banking system on the territory of the republic and provide credit and settlement services to the national economy army.

There are also plans to create a financial literacy consulting center at the Institute of Economics and Law. In addition, students of the institute will be able to become volunteers in financial education by completing a training course at the University of the Bank of Russia, and employees of the Department will be able to undergo training at the institute after the launch of new educational programs at the university.

For several years now, specialists of the National Bank Branch for the Republic of Karelia have been participating as experts in the annual scientific and practical conferences of the university, and also conduct lectures on explaining the monetary policy of the Bank of Russia. Students of the Institute of Economics and Law constantly take part in educational and educational quizzes, games and quizzes prepared by the Department. In 2020, the team of the institute won the online quest “Treasure of the Old City”.
