Coordination Meeting of DTFI held at Gyalshing, West Sikkim
Gyalshing: The coordination meeting of District Task Force for immunization (DTFI) under District Hospital, Gyalshing was held it the chamber of SDM(HQ), Mr. Tushar G. Nikhare at District Administration Centre, Rabdentse, West Sikkim.
The meeting had the presence of Mr. Tushar G. Nikhare, SDM (HQ); Dr. Anusha Lama (Addl. Director-Cum- DRCHO),West; Mr. S. K. Allay (Dy. Director,HRDD); Mr. H. B. Shanker (CDPO); Mr. Digam Gurung (DPMU) and other Officials.
Dr. Anusha Lama describing the agendas of the program informed that the meeting of DTFI is held every month in the district and the meeting is a platform to share ideas and have proper co-ordination amongst the Governmental Departments involved for executing the upcoming programme successfully.
Following are the upcoming events of District Hospital Gyalshing(DHG):
1. National Deworming Day (NDD)
As informed by DHG, 3rd of March 2020 will be observed as NDD in the state and the Mop- Up round will be on 12th of March 2020. All the children’s from 1-18 years of age can avail the benefit of NDD in above mention dates.
2. Human Papilloma virus (HPV)
HPV vaccination is mostly for the prevention of cervical cancer for the girl child from 9-15 years of age. As per the information 98% of the said age group population has been covered in the district till date and the remaining will be vaccinated soon.
3. COVID-19
Dr. Lama informed that the Corona Virus disease 2019 or COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, a virus closely related to the SARS virus.The disease is the cause of the 2019–20 coronavirus outbreak. It is primarily spread between people by small droplets from infected individuals when they breathe or cough.Time from exposure to onset of symptoms is generally between 2 and 14 days. Hand washing, maintaining distance from people who are coughing, and not touching one’s face is recommended to prevent the disease. It is recommended to cover one’s nose and mouth with a bent elbow when coughing.
In addition, she said that the District hospital,Gyalshing is fully equipped to tackle any suspected cases in relation to Corona Virus and any person showing the symptoms of Corona Virus may be immediately brought to the hospital for the treatment.
