Cornell University: BOOM 2024 to Showcase Games, Gadgets, and More
AI memory aids, post-apocalyptic video games and a stock trading app are among the digital creations that will be on display at Bits On Our Minds (BOOM), the premier showcase for Cornell student projects in cutting-edge digital technology.
This year’s event – which marks BOOM’s 26th anniversary – will take place on Thursday, April 18 from 4-6 p.m. in Duffield Hall atrium. It is free and open to the public, and middle school students and their teachers are especially encouraged to attend.
Individuals and student teams from across the university are invited to demonstrate their projects to the community. This year’s projects span many disciplines and include robots, mobile phone apps, medical tests and programming aids. Participants will be judged on their presentation and their project’s novelty, difficulty, social benefits and quality of engineering. The selected teams will receive a commemorative trophy and a $1,000 award.
The event is sponsored by the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, with support from Cisco, Infosys, LinkedIn, Sandia National Laboratories and Millennium Management. Participating students will have the opportunity to network with industry representatives during the showcase and in a reception following the event.
