Council Of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) Celebrates 80th Foundation Day

 

Bhubaneswar : CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar celebrated the 80th Foundation Day of the parent body CSIR, New Delhi in the premises of the institute at Bhubaneswar on 26th September 2021.
The Foundation Day programme was held in the main auditorium of IMMT started with the welcome address by Prof. Suddhasatwa Basu, Director, IMMT.
Addressing the gathering Prof. Suddhasatwa Basu, Director, IMMT said, The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi known for its cutting-edge R&D knowledge base in diverse S&T areas, is a contemporary R&D organization. CSIR has a dynamic network of 37 national laboratories, 39 outreach centres, 3 Innovation Complexes, and five units with a pan-India presence. CSIR’s R&D expertise and experience are embodied in about 3460 active scientists supported by about 4350 scientific and technical personnel as of June 2021. In the difficult time of Covid pandemic, under several limitations we able to work on 167 projects out of which 87 are new. It’s a great effort and achievement by our research scientists and the team.

Speaking on this occasion Hon’ble Chief Guest, Shri Sumit Deb, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NMDC Ltd. Hyderabad said it’s a long journey by CSIR showcasing the excellency of research in various technical sector. The contribution of CSIR to the country is really commendable.
Sri Deb emphasised on the enhancement of mining sector and the advancement and acceptance of research in different sectors like Coal iron ore, green steel etc.
On this occasion he released the Hindi Magazine “Abhivyakti”.
On this day MOUs were signed between CSIR-IMMT & NMDC, Hyderabad and CSIR-IMMT & Bhubaneswar City Knowledge & Innovation Cluster (BCKIC) in the presence of august gathering.
In his address Shri Manasa Prasad Mishra, Director (Projects & Technical), Director (Finance)-Additional Charge, NALCO the Guest of Honour, said, I am happy to say that CSIR IMMT is working in all research field like mineral processing, iron ore CSIR is working. Our challenge is to meet the demand of the present and demand of the future and at the same time we also have to make it economically sustainable. Industries are looking institutes like CSIR for more and more research work. Now its time for work on Green Aluminium. Green Steel is important but at the same time green aluminium is also very important.
Guests of the occasion visited various facilities at CSIR-IMMT and witnessed the demonstrations of key technologies.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ashok Kumar Sahu, Chief Scientist, Chairman, CSIR Foundation Day Organizing Committee and he proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr Mrutyunjay Suar, Chairman, BCKIC, Dr. Prashant Ku Singh, CEO BCKIC were present on this occasion.
On this occasion, there was announcement of Prizes for e-Poster Competition winners. Mostly of the staff and Scholars of CSIR-IMMT and other invited guests attended the programme.
