Coventry University teams up with James Cook University to boost psychology opportunities

Coventry University has signed an exciting new agreement with the Singapore campus of James Cook University (JCU) aimed at providing new opportunities for students in the field of psychology.

Spearheaded by Coventry University’s Singapore Hub, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two universities is intended to develop psychology expertise and facilitate knowledge transfer.

It highlights the importance of higher education institutions in promoting international collaboration, as well as the value these institutions bring to social development in both Singapore and the UK.

The hope is that activities such as student and faculty exchange and study abroad arrangements will be prioritised and that students will be able to form new ties and connections with their peers from overseas.

Michael Yap, Managing Director of Coventry University’s Singapore Hub, said: “Our collaboration with JCU is a great opportunity to enhance our joint expertise in the field of psychology, helping us to share best practices and benefit learners.

“We’re delighted to have signed this agreement and it highlights the importance of higher education institutions in promoting international collaboration, as well as the value these institutions bring to social development in both Singapore and the UK.”

Professor John Latham CBE, Coventry University Vice Chancellor, said: “This MOU recognises the mutual interests of both organisations in the higher education sector, particularly pertaining to research, training, development, and the dissemination of knowledge.

“We value our incredible international ties and the opportunities this approach provides to students across the globe.”

Professor May Tan-Mullins, Dean International at JCU in Singapore, said: “In signing this MOU with Coventry University, we embark on a transformative journey to share the expertise of both our universities, paving the way for students to explore new horizons in the realm of psychology and shape a brighter future for the communities around us.”
