COVID-19 co-ordination team to be formed in every district of #Gujarat: CM #VijayRupani

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister of the state Mr. Vijay Rupani in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitin Patel conducted a meeting through a video conference with private practitioners and leading members of Indian Medical Association in order to obtain inputs in the fight against the global pandemic.

Providing details of the decisions taken by the CM during the video conference, Secretary to the CM Mr. Ashwani Kumar said, “ Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani has announced that the state government will form a COVID-19 co-ordination committee in every district in order to prevent further spread of the disease. The committee will be headed by the District Collector. Representatives from IMA in addition to leading medicinal practitioners will be a part of the sames. The CM has taken this visionary step in order to ensure that we can mitigate large scale outbreaks, if any, in the near future. Hence, it is of paramount importance to ensure that various health care and medical experts work under the same umbrella amidst the crisis for better results.”

Around 1000 private physicians and pulmonologists and 300 anaesthetics will be able to provide their services due to the said decision. The CM also suggested that the officials of the state’s health department engaged in the work related to curbing COVID-19 should be in touch with members of IMA in order to deliberate on various ways to stop this crisis.

The CM also urged the private practitioners to start an OPD ward in their respective clinics and emphasised that they should immediately report to the nearest government hospital dedicated to COVID-19 incase they find possible suspects of COVID-19.

Mr. Ashwani Kumar added, “ The CM lauds the efforts of all the health workers, medical and paramedical staff and all others engaged in treating COVID-19 patients. The state government is dedicated to ensure that the staff remains unaffected from COVID and that they get all the necessary tools and equipments.”

Providing details of the essential items available in the state, the Secretary said, “ 193.34 lakh litres of milk is available in the state out of which 46.54 lakh litres has been consumed. 92,669 quintals of vegetables are available in Gujarat which includes 26,240 quintals of potatoes, 12,407 quintals of onions, 9161 quintals of tomatoes, and 44,859 quintals of green leafy vegetables. 19, 569 quintals of fruits are available in the state.

Around 73 lakh 30 thousand food packets have been distributed to the needy in Gujarat. 2 lakh 88 thousand passes have been issued to all the small vendors and others associated with providing essential items during the lockdown.

5281 calls have been received on the state’s helpline 1070 and 24,331 calls have been received on the district helpline 1077.

Minister of State for Home Department Mr. Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Chief Principal Secretary to CM Mr.K.Kailashnathan, Chief Secretary Mr. Anil Mukim, senior secretaries Mr. Pankaj Kumar, Dr.Rajiv Kumar Gupta, Dr. Jayanti Ravi, President of IMA Dr. Ketan Desai and Dr.Kamlesh Upadhyay were present during the video conference.
