Covid-19 Control: Testing in schools, colleges, public places being started in Ramban

Ramban : To control the spread of Covid-19 infection, the District Administration Ramban today decided to ramp up testing in schools, colleges and other public places like hospitals, health centres and banks.

In this regard, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mohammad Farid Bhat today discussed modalities with the Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam. He informed the meeting that as many as 150 RT-PCR samples have to be collected in the district per day, in addition to the Rapid Test samples for which directions have been to Medical Superintendent, District Hospital and all BMOs take effective measures.

The meeting was also informed that the District Administration has made Covid testing mandatory for all construction workers, who are coming from outside into the district for execution of works on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and the USBRL Projects.

The District Administration has also decided to provide masks and sanitizers to students and staff members of all the Government Schools in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner, who is also the head of the District Health Society, directed all the Sub Divisional Magistrates to take measures for effective Covid-19 management so that the spread of infection is kept at bay.

On the issue of ongoing Covid vaccination of people over the age of 60 years and those with co-morbidities between the age of 45 years and 59 years, the CMO said presently 55 CVCs have been established in the district. He, however, added that the number of centres shall be increased to vaccinate the age-appropriate beneficiaries.

A District-level Task Force Committee meeting is also being held to review the progress of Covid-19 vaccination in the district.
