Early data from the assessment showed that only 10% of the kids had scores above 6 out of 10 in creative intelligence
Bangalore, January 13, 2021: Uable, India’s leading life skill development platform for kids has launched a one of its kind Creative Intelligence (CI) Assessment report for kids between the ages of 6 to 12 years old. The assessment report was designed by an expert team at Uable comprising neuroscientists, engineers and designers from the University of California, Davis Technical University, Munich, IIT-Delhi and St. Stephen’s College. The test assesses a child’s creativity, communication, entrepreneurial mindset, social and emotional intelligence. It covers 5 key life-skill areas such as Visual Arts & Design, Humanities, Business & Entrepreneurship, Performing Arts and Science & Engineering. The assessment can be taken by parents on behalf of their kids.
According to the New Work Order report 2015, jobs of the future will demand Creativity 260% more frequently than jobs of the past. As per the report, creatively intelligent youth would take less time to attain full-time jobs and would earn $3000 more than others per year. This makes CI a must-have skill for the youth. On the other hand, a study by NASA on ‘creative genius of humans’, shows that creative genius score among kids between the age of 6 is at 98% but drops down to 30% by the time they are 10 years old and goes as low as 12% by the time they are 14 years old. Uable’s CI assessment aims to bring early intervention and enable parents to preserve and nurture creative intelligence among their kids during their growing years.
Creative Intelligence (CI) is the capability of a human being to deal with the most ambiguous, uncertain problems and come out with most creative, original solutions by bringing creativity and intelligence together.
Launching the CI assessment report, Saurabh Saxena, CEO & Co-founder, Uable said, “Children especially between the age of 6 – 12, are more drawn to the idea of learning while playing. Inquisitiveness, curiosity, and knowledge building happen through exploration and peer to peer communication outside of traditional classrooms. It is the need of the hour to develop pedagogies that will make education more experiential, holistic, integrated, inquiry-driven, discovery-oriented, learner-centred, discussion-based, flexible, and, of course, enjoyable”
“Uable’s report highlights the importance of CI, informs parents on the current CI level of their kids, helps them understand the areas where their child has high CI and areas that need development. The assessment will not just help parents but also educators, thereby assisting them to evaluate and improve the existing skill development programs in the industry” added Saurabh
Early trends observed from the report:
The firm did a soft launch in August 2020 and invited over 1000 parents to take this assessment on behalf of their kids and tested the CI level of their kids. It was found that more than 40% of the kids had low scores when it came to life skills such as Business & Entrepreneurship and Performing arts, and only 10% secured scores above 6 out of 10 across all 5 areas of assessment.
The early trends from the CI assessment report indicate that kids don’t possess sufficient 21st-century skills like creativity, communication, entrepreneurial mindset, social and emotional intelligence. There is a need to redesign learning pathways to ensure the young minds are equipped and empowered with these critical life-skills that can help them be better prepared and navigate the future of work.
