Crop compensation among affected Orchardists kick-started at Shopian

 

SHOPIAN : On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani today kick-started the distribution of compensation, to the tune of Rs 4.96 crore, for the loss of crops to the farmer’s of Shopian district whose orchards got damaged due to the untimely snowfall on 23rd, 24th October, 2021, here.

It is for the first time in the district when the farmers will get crop damage compensation well on time.

The government has declared the untimely snowfall as the national disaster and after assessing the damages all across the district, a detailed report also depicting a compensation component was submitted for its early release.

While speaking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner emphasized upon all the Revenue and other officers to work with dedication and in coordination with the Horticulture Department and enroll the list of left out farmers whose orchards got damaged.

He asked them to speed up their activities so that the process of compensation is geared up on a war-footing basis and the farmers will be able to get the compensation of their damaged crops.

Among others, Tehsildars, Officers from Horticulture, Agriculture and other concerned departments were present on the occasion.
