CSIR/IMMT celebrated its 58th Foundation Day
Bhubaneswar: The CSIR-IMMT (Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology), Bhubaneswar today celebrated its 58th foundation day at a virtual function here. Dr Shekhar C. Mande, Director General, CSIR & Secretary, DSIR, Govt. was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. S Basu, Director, CSIR-IMMT, Dr. A.K. Sahu, Chairman, Foundation Day Celebration Committee, and several other scientists, officials, and staff members joined the event virtually through video-conferencing.
On the occasion, Prof. S. Basu released the Annual Report 2020-2021 of the Institution and hindi Magazine Abhivyakti.
Shri Basu said, IMMT was able to work on 165 number of projects out of 83 new projects were taken up with rupees 31 crore external cash flow, both funded by government and private agencies. In past pandemic situation IMMT developed many assistive device products related to Covid-19. Department successfully commissioned a state of the art “slurry pilot plant test loop facility” for hydraulic transportation of iron ore. He also thanked to all scientist, technical, administrative staff members and students of IMMT who’s sincere and effort made this pandemic difficult year to a successful time.

CSIR continue contributes in the covid-19 & post covid-19 situation. CSIR was foot operated wash basin, Hastsuraksha, sensor based sanitizer dispenser, disinfectant spraying jeevansi, coffin for dead body storage. CSIR also developed internal hospital assistive devices or working with cipla for covid-19. High altitude long enclearance(HALE) platform system is the future plan CSIR-IMMT.
On this occasion M/s Indian Plant Feeds, Cuttack a Proprietorship Firm registered under MSME Department, Govt. of Odisha has agreed to receive CSIR-IMMT developed technology on POTASH (K) ENRICHED BIOCHAR FROM WASTE BIOMASS.” The process technology has high relevance for the alternative source of potassium and it can lead to the development of a niche product market. Today on the auspicious occasion of 58th CSIR-IMMT Foundation Day, Smt. Renu Bala Ghosh, Proprietorship of Indian Plant Feeds to receive and solemnize the agreement towards technology transfer and licensing.
Another Expert Eye-On-Pellet Technology is a pelletization Disc Control System, developed by Process Engineering and Instrumentation Department. The technology transfer agreement has been signed with M/s SVNT Infotech Pvt Ltd. Hyderabad on 04.02.2021. You will happy to know that 6 units of this technology are recently commercialized at Pellet Plant 2 of JSW Steel Limited, Bellary Karnataka (through M/s SVNT Infotech Pvt Ltd). The pellet plant is running in fully auto mode using our control system.
Due to current COVID-19 Pandemic scenario, our IMMT team has provided technical support in virtual mode for the entire duration of installation and commissioning. Today, the technology transfer agreement is officially being handed over to Mr. Sanjeev R Desai, Director of M/s SVNT Infotech Pvt Ltd. Hyderbad.
