CUG: Key Laboratory of Deep Geothermal Resources Construction Plan Passed in Seminar

The seminar on the Key Laboratory of Deep Geothermal Resources Construction Plan was held by CUG and the Department of Natural Resources of Hubei Province on November 6 at CUG.

CUG President WANG Yanxin pointed out that in the context of China’s current focus on the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and its promotion of green and clean energy, CUG integrates its advantages of hydrogeology, geophysics, volcanic geology, rock geochemistry, and other disciplines to research on the basic theory and exploration technology of deep geothermal resources, to form theory and exploration technology systems of deep geothermal resources, and to serve the exploration, development, utilization, and personnel training of deep geothermal resources.

HE Kaitao, an official from the Ministry of Natural Resources, said that the Ministry always underpins innovation by creating the soft environment, providing support, and developing talents. He expected the laboratory to strive to become a national experimental platform.

HU Xiangyun, Deputy Director of the Laboratory, reported on the Key Laboratory of Deep Geothermal Resources Construction Plan, after which the 7 experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China University of Petroleum-Beijing, Yangtze University, and other institutions had a deep discussion and all agreed to pass the construction plan.
