CUPB organized National Webinar on ‘Hind Di Chadar Sahib Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’

Bathinda: Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) organized National Webinar on ‘Hind Di Chadar Sahib Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’ on 9th November. The programme was conducted under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari as a part of Webinar Series to celebrate the 400th Prakash Purab of ninth Sikh Guru Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The keynote speaker of this Webinar was Prof. Jagbir Singh, Former Professor, Delhi University. Faculty & students from different institutions attended this webinar.

At the start of Webinar, Prof. Harpal Singh Pannu, Chair Professor, Guru Gobind Singh Chair, welcomed the participants and introduced keynote speaker. Dr. Lakhvir Lezia, shared the details of programme theme.

Keynote Speaker Prof. Jagbir Singh in his lecture put a light on life, philosophy, martyrdom and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He said that Guru Sahib’s writings teach us to stay away from greed, to walk on the path of peace, to adopt the nature-friendly lifestyle, to practice fearless conduct, to believe in God, to control the thoughts of our mind and to work towards achieving the basic goal of life ‘salvation’. He added, the Bani of Ninth Sikh Guru is registered in holy Sikh Scripture Shri Guru Granth Sahib and it guides us way to live a divine life. He highlighted that Guru Tegh Bahadur is popularly known as ‘Hind Di Chadar’ or Shield of India, for his brave sacrifice to protect the religious freedom of Hindus from Mughal oppression. He added, Guru Sahib had given his Martyrdom to promote the message of peace, religious tolerance, national integration and cultural integration of India.

 

Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, complimented keynote speaker for acquainting participants with different aspects of life of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He mentioned that the philosophy and preaching of Guru Sahib is relevant for all times & it will continue to guide our society to live together peacefully by rising above religious divide. He mentioned that we should understand the basic message of ‘Universal Oneness’ given by all Sikh Gurus and should live happily together while leading a life that is compatible with nature.

Towards the end of Programme, Registrar. Shri Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra delivered the formal vote of thanks.
