Curtin FM’s Annual Radiothon Brings Community Together
Curtin FM’s army of loyal listeners have once again showed their dedication to the station, raising $140,065 at the annual Radiothon fundraiser.
The station received 2060 individual donations from listeners across Australia, the UK and US over the week-long event, including one pledge of $1000.
All money raised will go to the running of Curtin FM, which is Western Australia’s most popular community radio station with 190,000 weekly listeners.
Station Manager Quinn Glasson said community support for self-funded Curtin FM was always overwhelming, but particularly so this year given the impact of the high cost of living on many listeners.
“We are incredibly lucky and humbled to have an amazing audience who have given so generously, especially when so many are doing it tough,” Mr Glasson said.
“Much like the station itself, Radiothon’s success is a team effort and relies on dozens of volunteers who give up their time and energy to help us in countless ways, whether that be on-air, counting donations, taking calls, updating our social media or just helping around the station.
“Reaching the $140,000 mark is brilliant and I feel immense pride at the impact the station has had on so many people across Perth.
“We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to each and every person who has shown their support.”
Curtin Corporate Communications Director Vanessa Beasley said Radiothon’s success is testament to Curtin FM’s importance to the community.
“Each year, Radiothon serves as a reminder of just how much this station means to people,” Ms Beasley said.
“Curtin FM is a big part of many people’s lives and their ongoing support of Radiothon will help the station continue to thrive into the future.”
