Cyber Jagrukta Diwas programme held

ALIGARH: Various issues pertaining to cyber security including the browser and desktop security, safety from malware attack and cyber fraud and spotting of fake apps were discussed in a Cyber Jagrukta Diwas (CJD) programme organized by the Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning, Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University.

The guest speaker, Dr Asad Malik (Department of Computer Science, AMU) discussed ways to maintain Cyber hygiene and keeps the devices, including mobile phones, computers, tablets and data networks safe from all sorts of threats.

He informed the participants about the concept of Juice jacking and its possible attacks, various kind of frauds like OTP frauds, use of fake e-mail and Whats app messages, fake costumer care and toll free numbers and fake job opportunities. He explained to them how to do online and telephone reporting of cyber crimes.

Prof. Masud Alvi (Officiating Director of the Centre) emphasised the importance of spreading awareness and said that cyber security is a shared responsibility. He said cyber hygiene check should be conducted regularly to keep the devices, network and data safe.

Earlier, welcoming the guest speaker, Students’ Counsellor, Dr. Samreen Hasan Khan stressed the need for keeping aware of the various kinds of women related cyber crimes and the ways to check them by reporting and filing online crimes and frauds at the government of India portal, www.cybercrime.gov.in.

She also conducted the programme. More than 100 students enrolled with the Centre attended the cyber awareness session.
