Day 2 North Zone: AMU and BU marches ahead with convincing wins

Aligarh: Buoyed by whirlwind knocks of Aman 64 runs off 39 balls and Hannan Rizwan’s crafted inning of 34 runs off 21 not out, AMU defeated I K Gujral Punjab Technical University by 102 runs in the second day of the Northzone Intervaristy Cricket tournament being played here. AMU scored 177 in the stipulated 20 overs.

Rafi, 4 for 16 ripped through IKGPTU as its batsmen could notch up only 75 in 10 over.

IKGPT University could not capitalise on its bowlers disciplined performance earlier as they gave just one extra run in the form of wide in its stipulated 20 overs.

For IKGTU Khalid was the top scorer with 17 runs, Balwinder Singh bowled heart out and grabbed 2 wickets.

In another match played at Athletics Ground, Bundelkhan University, Jhansi thrashed SMVDU, Katra (Jammu and Kashmir) by 8 wickets. After winning the toss SMVDU, Katra batsman could not utilise the advantage of wicket and gifted their wickets with some erratic shots and were bundled out for 84 runs in 19 overs . Gaurav Sharma scored 21 off 34 balls and Ankit Verma contributed 17 off 14 balls were the major scorers for SMVDU.

It was easy chase for BU Jhansi as Abhimanyu scored a fluent 42 off 32 balls and Prabhat mustered up 21 runs off 34 balls.

Dinesh took 1 wicket conceding 24 for SMVDU and Md Arif finished with best figure of the match grabbing 3 for 17 runs for Bundelkhand.

Guru Jhanbheshwar University, Hissar got a walkover against Chadigarh University, Mohali and Guru Angad University got walkover against AKR University, Magalgram.
