DBCS Doda hosts awareness programme to observe World Sight Day

 

DODA : As a part of celebration of 22nd World Sight Day 2021, the District Blindness Control Society Doda on Thursday hosted an awareness programme here at ANMT School.

The programme was presided over by Chief Medical Officer, Dr Mohd Yaqoob Mir and attended by Nodal Officer NPCB&VI Dr Saleem Ahmed, Dr Nasir Masood, Ayaz Ahmed Butt, Mohd Shafi Attu, Mohd Ashraf Zargar, Mohd Faheem Butt, Zaheer Gattu, Zeeshan Ali Tramboo, Mohd Umar Mughal, Azhar Butt besides staff and students of ANMT School Doda.

District Nodal Officer NPCB&VI Dr Saleem Ahmed, while speaking on the occasion, said that the main objective of observing this day is to raise public awareness on blindness and vision impairment. Dr Saleem further said that this day is considered as the most important advocacy and communication day in the eye health calendar, which aims to bring global attention to vision impairment and blindness.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr Mohd Yaqoob Mir also delivered a lecture on the importance of World Sight Day and made the gathering aware about precautions to be taken to prevent blindness and visual impairment and also highlighted the provision of eye healthcare. He said that the health department has always been active in promoting preventive measures among the people to build a healthy and disease free society.

The speakers laid stress on early detection and treatment of eye health problems.

Meanwhile, a debate competition was also held in which the students of ANMT School participated. Later mementos were distributed among them.

Similarly, the day was observed by all Medical Blocks viz Assar, Bhaderwah, Gandoh, Ghat and Thathri with great fervor and enthusiasm.
