DC Baramulla distributes Tabs, Laptop among Meritorious Girl Students
Baramulla: ICDS project Baramulla today celebrated a day long function at Dak Bungalow in connection with the international girl child day today.
The programme was organised under the centrally sponsored Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme and the theme was “My Voice, our equal Future”.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo presided over the function as chief guest whereas officers of different departments showed their participation.
On the occasion, various women speakers from different walks of life highlighted the importance of educating and securing a girl child and exhorted upon strict enforcement of relevant rules and regulations.
Also some cultural activities and other related events viz debates, discussions were performed by the girl students. Best performing students were given awards for their felicitation.
Deputy Commissioner, in his speech complimented the participants and said that effective implementation of BBBP has always remained in his priority areas. He said that various initiatives have been taken on the part of district administration for educating and empowering a girl child besides terms them at par with boys in every respect. DC also recalls some famous women personalities who worked enthusiastically for the socio-economic development.
Meanwhile, DC distributes 09 Tabs and one laptop among the meritorious girl students for their felicitation. He also distributes baby kits among some lactating mothers and terms it a move ahead to empower the women and make them self reliant.
ADC Mohammad Ahsan Mir, Principal GDC Women’s,Program Officer ICDS,CEO, President MCB,BDC Chairperson Sopore were also present on the occasion.
