DC finalizes arrangements for cricket tournament in Rajouri

Rajouri: District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today convened a meeting with the officers of the concerned department for finalizing strategies for organising cricket tournament in the district with the aim to promote sports culture among youth of the district and to channelize their energy in a positive and constructive manner.
The concerned officer informed in the meeting that the tournament will commence from February 16th at District Police line and teams and players from outside UT Jammu and Kashmir are expected to participate in the event. Keeping in line with the primary goal of widespread sport promotion, the winner team will get a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 100000. The runner up team will get a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 50000. Besides, the man of the match and man of the tournament will also be rewarded. The tournament will be organised by district youths in association with District Civil and Police Administration.
DDC said that youth have hitherto unexplored talent in sports activities and can achieve dizzying heights at national and international levels. He added that the district administration is deeply committed and shall leave no stone unturned to provide every possible support to the youth for different sports activities and adequate infrastructure will be made available for the growth of sports activities in the district. He further said that this month sports stadium Kheora would be dedicated to youth of the district. Besides, he announced Rs. 2 lakhs for the smooth conduct of the tournament.
Senior Superintendent of Police Yougal Manhas, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sher Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Sanjeev Puri, Chief Education Officer, Ramsaroop Sharma and Representatives of DYSS besides organizers of the tournament and other sportsmen were present during the meeting.
