DC inaugurates Heemal Administrative Complex, Housing OSC-W, District Hub for Women Empowerment at Shopian
SHOPIAN : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today inaugurated the newly refurbished Administrative Complex, named Heemal at Shopian.
The Complex houses One Stop Centre for Women (OSC) and District Hub for Women Empowerment, Flagship schemes of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, administered by the District Social Welfare office.
The work on the Administrative Complex was taken up by Executive Agency (REW) of Rural Development at an estimated cost of Rs.16 lacs and completed in a record time.
This Mission is an integrated programme, aimed at strengthening interventions for women safety, security and empowerment, said DC on the occasion.
He further added that it seeks to realise the Government’s commitment for women-led development by addressing issues affecting women on a life-cycle continuum basis and by making them equal partners in nation-building through convergence and citizen ownership.
Vaishya said the integrated Complex shall be a great step towards women empowerment in the district and services shall be provided at a Single Point of Reference, under One Roof.
He also interacted with staff and impressed upon them to give their best in addressing the issues and grievances of the affected women folk and take measures for strengthening the Administrative, structural and service delivery framework/ mechanism of these flagship schemes.
DSWO Showkat Ahmad Showkat; BDO Chitragam, Jahid Azad, while addressing the media spoke about the working status of OSCW in Shopian and the concept behind the setting up of these centres.
District Information officer, Showkat Hussain Ganie; officials of Social Welfare Department, Rural Development Department and other concerned staff were also present on the occasion.
