DC Kathua chairs DDMA meeting; Directs teams to conduct mock drill exercises
Kathua: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Om Prakash, who is also chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, today chaired a meeting to discuss emergency preparedness and response plan in the event of disasters.
The meeting discussed in length the role and responsibilities of the stakeholders, while undertaking rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures in the event of natural disaster, such as earthquake and landslides, if it happens in the district.
The DC laid thrust on strengthening of committees at District, Tehsil, Block and Panchayat levels, while further directing the concerned officers to organize periodic mock drills at all levels to evaluate their operational readiness.
Discussions related to transport, technical teams and medical response were also held during the meeting.
Later, an audio video presentation was also presented by the team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) depicting the actual drills and exercises followed during disasters.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ramnish Gupta; ADC, Atul Gupta; ACD, Narayan Dutt; CPO Uttam Singh; DDMO Suninderjeet Kour; DSP Civil Defence; Tehsildars, CEO, CMO, Coordinator and NYK Volunteers, Secretary Red Cross, DIO and other members of DDMA.
