DC Kathua inaugurates Blood Donation Camp at GMC Kathua
Kathua: On the eve of the World Blood Donor Day, District Red Cross Society (IRCS) Kathua, in collaboration with the Blood Transfusion Department, Govt. Medical College Kathua, organized a Blood Donation Camp which was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav who is also the Chairman of DIRCS, Kathua.
SSP Kathua R.C Kotwal; Principal GMC Kathua Anjali Nadir Bhat; Medical Superintendent, Dr Chitra Vaishnavi; ACR Kathua, Sandeep Seonitra were also present on this occasion.
Over 50 units of blood were donated during this camp in which volunteers from different age groups participated. The Doctors and Para-medical staff of GMC Kathua facilitated the blood donation.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav said donating blood is a noble cause and selfless act which helps save lives. “Donating your blood to someone is one of the most positive ways to help someone in need,” he added.
He appealed to the people to donate blood as millions of people need blood transfusions each year, further added that there is no substitute for human blood and it’s like offering someone a chance at life.
On the occasion, a two minute silence was also observed for the victims of Covid-19 pandemic.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner gave away appreciation certificates to volunteer donors.
