DC kick-starts spring vegetable cultivation at Agriculture Farm, Kupwara

 

KUPWARA : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today kick-started spring vegetable cultivation under controlled conditions (Green House cultivation) at Agriculture Farm, here.

Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad, SDAO Trehgam, concerned officers, besides, a large number of progressive farmers were present on the occasion.

Addressing the farmers, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to them to come forward into agriculture entrepreneurship particularly commercial vegetable cultivation to increase their income manifold. He said that the Kupwara district has a huge potential of vegetable cultivation which needs to be exploited by the farmers to improve their livelihood.

Meanwhile the Deputy Commissioner distributed 9 Poly Green Houses among the progressive farmers of Agriculture Sub Division Trehgam under Vegetable Expansion Programme for which the farmers expressed their gratitude towards the positive step of the department.

The Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad also spoke and said that the Agriculture department has a target to distribute 100 poly green houses under different schemes including Intensive Vegetable Cultivation, Vegetable Expansion, PMDP, MIDH and CAPEX scheme.

He assured the farmers about every possible support from the department for boosting their productivity.
