DC Kishtwar chairs training-cum-awareness programme on Forest Rights Act 2006
Kishtwar: To acquaint the officers and other stakeholders about various provisions of the Forest Right Act 2006, the Forest Department today conducted a daylong training and awareness programme for the officials concerned, which was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Kumar.
The training programme was attended by the Divisional Forest Officer, Kishtwar, Sagar Singh, DFO Marwah Vijay Kumar, BDOs,Tehsildars, Range officers besides other officials.
At the outset, the DC discussed in detail various modalities for the implementation of the Forest Right Act 2006.He also informed that for the effective implementation of the FRA, the Forest Right Act committees (FRCs ) have been constituted in all the Panchayats through the gram sabhas in presence of Foresters, patwaris and the VLWs.
He further directed the District Panchayat officer Kishtwar Kishore Singh Katoch to impart the training to the members of FRCs and acquaint them about various provisions of Forest Right Act.
Earlier, the DFO Marwah, through PowerPoint presentation, educated the participants about various provisions of the Act 2006. The trainees were briefed in detail about the salient features of the Act and the rules including the preamble, the forest dwelling communities, the constitution and functions of the 3 tiers system of the committee at the district ,sub Divisional and gram panchayats level and the procedure to be followed for inviting, acknowledging and processing the claims under the act.
The training about the rights so vested and the nature of evidence required for such recognition and vesting in respect of forest land was also imparted.
A question answer session was also held in which a number of queries were answered by the DFOs.
