DC Kishtwar felicitates mothers blessed with girl child; Self defense training conducted at GHSS Girls Kishtwar

Kishtwar: As part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padao week, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma today felicitated mothers of newly born girl child with shawls and Baby kits here at District Hospital.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. R. S Manhas; Medical Superintendent, DH, Dr. Parvez Iqbal Wani; Nodal Officer BBBP, Anoop Kumar, besides Doctors and other Paramedical staff were present on the occasion.

Congratulating the mothers of newly born girl child and their family members, the DC said that the girls are pride for families and they should be nurtured well and educated like boys as they are far ahead in every field. He also recalled the contribution of several women in different fields across the world.

Laying stress on the importance of education of girl child, he said that getting quality education will not only uplift their status but will educate the entire society.

Nodal Officer BBBP, informed that a series of awareness activities are being conducted under the campaign during this week across the district, which includes painting and slogan writing competition, career counselling sessions, sports competitions, plantation drive, symposium and quiz Competition among others.

Meanwhile, Self Defence training was also imparted to the girl students at GHSS Girls Kishtwar which commenced on March 23, 2021. Over 150 students participated under the supervision of District Youth services and Sports Officer, Kharati Lal Sharma.
