DC Kishtwar reviews implementation of District Disaster Management Plan

 

KISHTWAR : Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma today reviewed District Disaster Management Plan here at a meeting of District Disaster Management Authority held in the conference Hall DC office Complex.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Sham Lal; Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishori Lal Sharma, Joint Director Planning Mohammad Iqbal; SDM Chatroo Inderjeet Singh Parihar; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Akhter Hussain Qazi; SDM Marwah Dr. Mohsin Raza; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. R S Manhas; Executive Officer Municipal Council Kishtwar Tariq Balwan; Chief Education Officer Rashpal Chauhan, besides Tehsildars, XEns, BDOs and members of District Disaster Management Authority among others.

During the meeting, the DC stressed for structuring a fool proof disaster management system and immediate procurement of requisite machinery for prompt disaster response in the district.

It was made mandatory on the part of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to adopt a continuous and integrated process of planning, organizing, coordinating and implementing measures which are necessary and expedient for prevention as well as mitigation of disaster. Besides, various Instructions were passed and suggestions were made in the meeting.

All the Tehsildars were directed to chalk out a micro-level Disaster Management Plan at the tehsil level by identify the areas vulnerable to major types of the hazards in the district and to define and assign the different tasks and responsibilities to stakeholders during the

pre-disaster and post-disaster phases of the disaster.

Besides the creation and maintenance of the effective and responsive communication system based upon fool proof proven technology for prompt response during an emergency situation was also stressed during the meeting.

The DC also reviewed preparedness measures and the arrangements at designated Rehabilitation centers established across the district post cloud bursting at various places of the District.

The house also discussed the strategies to increase volunteer base and the capacity building of the volunteers.

In this regard DC Kishtwar directed the concerned for conducting mock drills and training programmes for volunteers for better disaster management system in the district.
