DC Kishtwar reviews implementation of District Environment Plan
Kishtwar: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Ashok Sharma today chaired a meeting of the members of District Environment Committee (DEC) and reviewed the progress of implementation of District Environment Plan (DEP) in the district.
The meeting discussed the action taken or to be taken by the executing agencies for environmental conservation and improving parameters in the district as envisaged in the District Environment Plan.
The meeting discussed all the action areas taken up by different departments of district including clarification of observations raised by department of Forest, Ecology and Environment regarding revision of the DEP, preparation of revised action plan for restoration of water bodies in district, restoration/creation of ponds/water bodies, enforcement and monitoring guidelines for sand mining, implementation of action Plan for enforcement of E-waste/Solid waste/Biomedical waste / Industrial waste management rules besides Air quality and water quality management plan.
The DC Kishtwar informed the meeting that the site for the solid waste management has been identified and case file submitted for transfer of the state land. The EO Municipal Council Kishtwar was directed to take up the matter regarding finalisation of DPR with Higher Authorities for further execution.
The DDC directed the EO to install 120 litre Dust bins across the town and clear the footpaths along the roadsides. He further asked the EO to devise effective and efficient methods to collect and dispose of the solid wastes from the town area to avoid its hazardous effects.
District Mineral Officer Kishtwar was asked to ensure that air quality monitoring equipments are installed at all the sites of the power projects and the stone crushers to keep a close vigil on the maintenance of air quality in and around these areas. He further directed the district officers/committee members to identify gaps in the Plan and modify the same in line with the Model District Environment Plan of the Central Pollution Control Board.
After discussing pros and cons of action areas, the DDC urged all stakeholders to identify other factors affecting the Environment in the district and include the same in the District Environment Plan.
The meeting was attended by DFO Marwah Vijay kumar, DFO Kishtwar Sagar Singh, CAHO Kishtwar Altaf Hussain, DSHO Jaffar Arafat Qazi, FM DIC Dharam Pal, EO Municipal Council Kishtwar Tariq Balwan, DMO Brijesh Manhas , BDO Mughal Maidan Arun Kumar Badyal besides other district officers.
