DC Kupwara chairs DLAC meet on safe food and healthy diets
Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee on safe food and healthy diets and reviewed the measures taken for food safety in the district.
The meeting was informed that an amount of Rs.9,46,200 has been recovered from erring shopkeepers by the Adjudicating Officer under Food Safety & Standards Act (FSSA) during the year.
It was also informed in the meeting that 21,562 shop establishments have been checked and 4122 have been penalized besides Rs.7, 62,050 fines have been realized and 56 FIRs have been registered by Food Supplies department Kupwara till January 2021.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner FSSA, Kupwara informed that an amount of Rs.8, 80,200 has been recovered as fine by the Authority through inspection and market checking.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the concerned to hold awareness camps for traders about safe and healthy food. He directed them to speed up the market checks to ensure that safe and proper hygienic food items are sold to customers.
ADDC Kupwara, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ADC, Nazir Ahmad Lone, AC FSSA Kupwara, AD FCS&CA, CMO and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
