DC Kupwara inspects Quarantine Centres, takes stock of arrangements

Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Anshul Garg along with Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Bashir Ahmad Bhat and other concerned today visited various Quarantine centres established in the district and took stock of arrangements being put in place for the persons coming from abroad.
The Deputy Commissioner visited Quarantine Centre established at Government Degree College Kupwara and took stock of arrangements made for the suspected persons. He was informed that the boarding capacity of the Centre is 55 beds and 10 students who had come from abroad have been housed in the Centre since yesterday.
The DC impressed the concerned officers to provide proper hygienic refreshment to the boarders besides ensuring proper sanitation, heating and round the clock electricity at the Quarantine centre.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited Quarantine Centres at Cherkoot and Potusha Lolab and interacted with the Supervisory and Medical staff. He directed the concerned to remain in touch with the District Administration and directed for frequent fumigation of the Quarantine premises and distribution of masks among the boarders to prevent any infection.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner convened a meeting of officers to review the preparedness in wake of COVID-19 and to review facilities being provided at Quarantine Centres established in the district.
The Additional District Development Commissioner(ADDC) who is also Nodal Officer for Quarantine Centres, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Additional Deputy commissioner, Handwara, Designated Supervisory Officers, SSP Kupwara, Executives Engineers of various departments, Health Officers, Executives Officers of Municipal Committees and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed threadbare various aspects to prevent from deadly pandemic Coronavirus, the Deputy Commissioner was informed that 07 Quarantine Centres with 770 beds have been established in the district as per the prescribed protocol of the Government.
The DDC directed concerned officers to ensure the availability of all basic facilities in the Quarantine Centres and directed to provide separate rooms for ladies and gents.
He said that all rooms should be properly ventilated, besides arrangements of heating, lighting, electricity and water supply should be ensured. Special arrangements for covered bins, washrooms, sanitizers and triple layer masks should be made available.
The DC also called for arrangements of separate room for Administrative and Health Staff at all Quarantine Centres in the district.
He directed the concerned for providing refreshment to inmates, besides, directed Rapid Response Teams to visit the Centres for examining the inmates. He also directed Executives Officers of Municipal Committees to ensure proper sanitation services in and around the Quarantine Centres by ensuring spraying and fumigation. The Essential Service Departments were asked to coordinate with the supervisory officers to provide logistic support.
Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Magistrate Karnah, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin today issued an advisory asking concerned SHO to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued for the public welfare of the border sub division in wake of COVID-19. The SDM ordered that home delivery option should be used to prevent the spread of the disease.
