DC Kupwara reviews formulation of SDAP under SANKALP

Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the formulation of Skill Development Action Plan (SDAP) under SANKALP in the district.

The Plan of Rs.2 crore has been extended by Government of India to district Kupwara being an Aspirational District.

Addressing the meeting, the DC stressed upon the concerned officers to come up with a concrete proposal and plan for skills acquisition and knowledge awareness for youth to earn their livelihood. He said that the aim of the plan should be to upgrade the skill of the youth to make them employable.

He said 300 trades have been identified by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), adding that only those trades should be opted that have good scope of employment generation and market in the district.

The DC said that the objectives of SANKALP are to decentralise skilling initiatives in the ecosystem, strengthen institutional mechanisms for skill development and increase access to quality and market relevant training for youth across the district.

The meeting took threadbare discussion for selection of various trades and it was given out that Dairy Farming Entrepreneurship, Layer Farming, Bee Keeping, Mushroom Grower, CCTV, Solar Panel, Floriculture, Micro Irrigation Technician and other trades were selected.

On the occasion, the prescribed template of MSDE was circulated among the participants for formulation of the skill development plan.

The DC directed the officers to submit the skill development plan within the shortest possible time so that it is submitted to the concerned authorities.

Among others, Joint Director Planning, Abdul Majeed; Lead District Manager J&K Bank, General Manager DIC, CHO, Dy. CEO, DSWO, Principal Polytechnic College Kupwara, Superintendent ITI Kupwara, Handwara, Lalpora and Tangdar; DIO, DNO JKEDI and other concerned attended the meeting.
