DC Poonch reviews arrangements for Ramazan, Baisakhi and Navratras

 

Poonch: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet today chaired a meeting of senior Officers of different departments to review the arrangements for Ramadan, Navratras and Baisakhi.

Meanwhile, religious heads of all the faiths were also present in the meeting to apprise the Deputy Commissioner of the problems being faced by their respective areas.

After giving a patient hearing, the Deputy Commissioner directed Chief Executive Officer Municipal Council Poonch, AD FCS & CA and other allied departments to ensure the availability of all requisite and essential commodities on the prescribed rates during the festive month.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer JPDCL (PDD) to ensure adequate power supply especially at the time of Iftar and Sehri as well as at the religious shrines in view of the Baisakhi and Navratras. He also directed them to repair all the transformers if any before the holy month.

Deputy Commissioner also appealed the general public to purchase essential commodities at government fixed rates and inform the administration about overcharging.

He also asked Sr. Superintendent of Police to keep a close vigil on black marketers and take strict action against the erring traders. He further directed FCS &CA officials to constitute checking squads to intensify market checking and take strict action against the black marketers. The legal metrology department was also directed to ensure regular market checking during the festive season.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked the Municipal Committees to maintain sanitation in and around the places of worships and at the places of congregation.

He sought cooperation from the religious leaders and civil society members for ensuring adherence to the COVID-19 SOPs and use of masks and social distancing . He further advised them to avoid large congregations at religious places.
