DC Rajouri chairs Red Cross society meet

Rajouri: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today chaired a meeting of the District Red Cross Society to review its functioning and activities being carried out in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed on organising medical cum eye screening camps in the Border and far-flung areas of the District to facilitate the people. He directed the Social welfare Department, Health and Education Department to survey the children suffering from stunted growth; Deaf and Dumb children; Paralytic children; children rendered disable due to accident; children suffering from life-consuming disease and congenital heart problem and submit the report at the earliest.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner was asked to process the files, related to poor patients suffering from Cancer, under the Chief Minister Relief fund scheme.
A threadbare discussion was also held regarding registration of life time members, holding camps by SWD in the district for providing aids to Persons with disability preceded by a mass campaign , organising Blood donation camps at regular intervals and holding Mega Red cross mela in the District.
It was decided in the meeting that the Red Cross Mela would be organised on the 2nd week of May.
“The objective of the Mela is to highlight the fundamental principles of the Red Cross movement, which include humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary services, unity and universality. The revenue generated from the Mela would be utilized for the social causes,” the DC added.
The Meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandan Kohli; Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Sher Singh; Chief Education Officer, Gulzar Hussain; Assistant Commissioner Development, Sushil Khajuria; DSEO, Bilal Mir; Chief Account Officer, DSWO, Wakeel Bhat, KK langer and other officers and members of the District Red Cross Society.
