DC Rajouri reviews land Acquisition for road projects; Sets deadline for settlement of cases

Rajouri: District Collector Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan convened a meeting with the concerned officers to discuss and decide the issues with regard to land acquisition cases of BRO/GREF in the district and resolve the long pending issues in a time bound manner.

The meeting was attended by the ACR, Mohd Ashraf; Commander 31 BRTF ℅ 56 APO,KRJ Reddy; Executive Engineer PWD Rajouri, Mohd Zubair; Executive Engineer PWD Nowshera, Prem Kapoor; Chief Horticulture Officer, Madan Lal, Tehsildar Rajouri, Mohd Rafeeq; Tehsildar Thanamandi, Mehmood Rayaz; Tehsildar Subderbani, Jatinder Singh; Tehsildar Koteranka, Syed Hakim; Naib Tehsildar Defence, Abdul Gani besides concerned officers from BRO were present in the meeting.

It was apprised in the meeting that the final awards of the villages including Mawa, Balshama, Bakhar, Siot, Lamberi, Dandesar and Bagnoti stand issued under Land Acquisition Act and the award amount is Rs 09.72 crore which has been deposited by the GREF out of which an amount of Rs 01.04 crore has been disbursed to the land owners. It was also informed that the award in respect of five villages is pending.

The DDC asked for clearing the pendency with regard to the awards within the shortest possible time. He asked the Chief Horticulture Officer and concerned officers from Rajouri, Nowshera and Manjakote to submit the list of the building structures and fruit bearing trees on NH114A and also directed the concerned to complete the process of Section 3D on NH114A within the shortest possible time.

The DDC directed the BRO to start the work on Rajouri to Thanamandi road within ten days. The DC also directed the officer from BRO to start maintenance work on the roads. The PWD and Municipalities were instructed to ensure that all the roads which come under their jurisdiction are properly maintained.

It is pertinent to mention here that the public of Rajouri after the assumption of charge by R.K Shavan met him and demanded maintenance of local roads. They also demanded payment of compensation for the land acquired for construction of lanes and roads.

In view of the demands raised, the District Collector took a detailed review of land cases and issued necessary instructions.
