DC Samba flags off Motor Bike rally to spread awareness
Samba: Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Rohit Khajuria today flagged off a motor bike rally as part of the ongoing Road Safety Month here form DC office Nandini Hills.
Assistant Road Transport Officer, Rehana Tabassum; District Social Welfare, Officer Deep Kumar; District Information Officer, Ajay Sharma, besides other district officers and staff of Motor Vehicle Department were present on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention that this year instead of Road Safety Week, a month-long campaign-National Road Safety Month- is being observed by from 18 January to 17 February 2021. The motor bike rally was a part of host of activities planned for generating awareness and sensitising general public about safe use of roads. The rally passed through New Bus Stand Samba-Vijaypur Town-Baribrahmana and culminated at Thandi Khui.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that such events are being held to educate the people about traffic rules and regulations. He also appealed to participants to spread awareness among people about safe driving by avoiding the use of mobile phones, drunk driving, following traffic signals/ rules that have been formulated for their own benefit.
Meanwhile, the ARTO exhorted upon all participants to take a pledge to follow road safety rules and avoid traffic violations.
