DC Shopian kick-starts Plantation drive

Shopian: As part of Chinar Day Celebration, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachan Kumar Vaishya today kick started plantation drive by planting different species of saplings at DC Office premises, here.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the Forest Department Shopian has a target to plant 10,000 saplings of Conifer besides Chinar in the district.

He said that the campaign has been started by planting saplings in the DC office premises to give a message for institutional plantation across the district adding that all the district and sectoral officers have been directed to ensure planting of Chinar seedlings within their office premises.

The DC advised for planting more and more plants and said that plants are most essential as they provide us with oxygen in huge quantities. He also emphasised for making the Chinar Day process a great success.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shahbaz Ahmed Boodha, Officers and Officials of Forest division Shopian and other concerned were present on the occasion.
