DC Srinagar hands-over 12 commercial vehicles to beneficiaries under “MUMKIN” scheme
SRINAGAR : Continuing the efforts undertaken to provide sustainable livelihood to the unemployed enthusiastic youth of Srinagar, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who is also the Chairman, District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) today handed over the keys of highly-subsidized 12 commercial vehicles under ‘MUMKIN’ scheme to the beneficiaries in a function held at District Employment and Counseling Centre here.
The Director Employment Kashmir, Nissar Ahmad Wani was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the administration is working very hard with its vision and strategy to provide better employment avenues for youth of Srinagar through systematic livelihood generation programmes.
While complimenting the beneficiaries, the DC emphasised upon them to work with passion and dedication to earn decent livelihood with dignity. He also advised them to work with determination for making profitable use of the vehicle in the commercial sector.
The DC added that providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to the unemployed youth is among top most priority of the Lieutenant Governor led administration. He observed that Mumkin scheme has made possible (Mumkin) that any unemployed youth desirous to earn dignified livelihood not only for their family but to become job providers for others through a business chain.
He stressed on youth to work hard and learn to make themselves physically and mentally prepared to meet any challenges in their lives with strength and fight out unemployment with a positive mindset. He said that the youth shall lead from the front and become job providers instead of job seekers.
The DC asked youth to come forward and avail the maximum benefits of self-employment schemes like ‘Mumkin’ launched by the Government which have been designed specially for their sustainable livelihood. He informed that the government has rolled out multiple self-employment generation schemes and the administration will handhold youth who are desirous to establish their own income generating units.
Director Employment, Kashmir also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the initiatives and welfare schemes launched by the Government. He also threw light upon the objectives and benefits of Mumkin & Tejaswini Schemes and stressed upon youth to take advantage of these livelihood generation schemes to become self-reliant and provide employment to others.
On the occasion, Deputy Director Employment informed that as many as 48 cases under Mumkin scheme were approved by the DLIC through which 15 commercial vehicles were already handed over to the beneficiaries, while remaining 12 such vehicles were handed over to the beneficiaries today through scheme partners including J&K Bank, Shuhul Motors, Himaliya Motors and Kashmir Valley Motors.
He further informed that a total 115 applications have been received by the department so far under Mumkin and left out applications are being scrutinized for approval.
Deputy Director Employment Srinagar, Mohammad Rouf Rehman, Zonal Head J&K Bank, Syed Rufai, ARTO Srinagar, Manager Lead Bank besides Business partners including Shuhul Motors, Himalaya Motors Tengpora authorized dealers of Mahindra Company and Kashmir Valley Motors of Tata Company were present on the occasion.
