DC Srinagar inaugurates mega Employment Mela at Rajbagh

 

SRINAGAR : In order to provide an appropriate platform to the unemployed educated youth of Srinagar to interact with the Resource persons of various Government Departments regarding the incentivized self-employment schemes, besides prominent private companies, industrial units and corporate houses for training/ placement, the District Administration Srinagar today held a mega Employment Fair (Mela) at District Employment & Career Counselling Centre, Raj Bagh.

The Mela was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad in presence of Director Employment Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad Wani.

During the Employment Fair as many as 17 stalls were erected by the participating line departments and Private Sector Companies/ Organisations including District Industries Centre Srinagar, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Tourism, Fisheries, KVIB, JKEDI, Handicrafts, Handloom, Women Development Corporation, SC/ST/OBC Corporation, JKRLM, Apiculture, Lead Bank (FLCC), Ala cabs & Technologies and LIC of India Unit-II Srinagar.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the District Administration Srinagar in its endeavour is giving a dedicated focus on livelihood generation by proper hand-holding of the youth of the district through career counselling, skill development and financial assistance to make them job providers rather than job seekers.

While lauding the efforts of the organizers, the DC stressed on conducting such programmes on a regular basis so that maximum unemployed educated youth are benefitted through proper career counselling. He also complimented the beneficiaries and emphasised upon them to work with more passion, determination and dedication to earn a decent livelihood with dignity.

The DC added that providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to the unemployed educated youth is among the top most priority of the Government and various scheme have been launched in this regard to provide adequate platform to unemployed youth desirous to earn dignified and sustainable livelihood not only for their family but to become job providers for others through income generating units. He also assured the youth of every possible support and facilitation from District Administration in establishing their income generating units/ start-ups.

Earlier, the DC inspected various stalls set up by different departments displaying and highlighting various job oriented schemes and programs.

Director Employment, Kashmir also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the initiatives and welfare schemes launched by the Government. He also threw light upon the objectives and benefits of different employment schemes and stressed upon youth to take advantage of these livelihood generation schemes to become self-reliant and provide employment to others. He also briefed the participants about the recently launched Employment Portal (www.jakemp.nic.in) and laid stress on registering and counselling of youth in the diverse set of avenues available in the dynamic job-market and self-employment sector

On the occasion, Deputy Director Employment, Mohammad Rouf Rehman highlighted the initiatives and youth oriented welfare programmes of the District Employment & Career Counselling Centre, Srinagar. He also emphasised upon the participating youth to get enrolled/engaged in different incentivized self-employment schemes

Lead Bank Manager, Abdul Majeed also gave a detailed overview about various employment generation schemes and incentives/subsidies being given to the beneficiaries. While Assistant Director Tourism, CCO DE&CC, Srinagar, Branch Head LIC-unit-II Srinagar, VAS Animal Husbandry Department and Resource Persons from other Line departments briefed the audience about the schemes/job-openings in their respective organizations.

The Employment Fair witnessed huge participation of the unemployed educated youth of the District

Deputy Director Employment Srinagar, Mohammad Rouf Rehman, Zonal Head J&K Bank, Syed Rufai, ARTO Srinagar, Manager Lead Bank besides Business partners including Shuhul Motors, Himalaya Motors Tengpora authorized dealers of Mahindra Company and Kashmir Valley Motors of Tata Company were present on the occasion.

Later, the DC distributed certificates among the 24 beneficiaries of the District who had recently undergone 10 days EDP Training under Tejaswini Scheme.

On the occasion, DC also handed over the key of commercial vehicles to six beneficiaries under Mumkin scheme, while Appreciation Certificates were also given to the Scheme Partners of Mumkin in recognition of their prompt services and delivery of vehicles to the youth.

During the day long Employment Fair, the departments/ organizations registered a good number of desirous eligible youth for various self-employment/ livelihood generation schemes
